Hey guys! My name is Joleah McComb and I am the girl behind Joleah's Creations. Why a crafting blog you may ask? Well, my life has been a crazy roller coaster of ups, downs, and crazy adventures just like it has been for many people. So many things have evolved and changed in my life but one thing that has stayed consistent throughout my life is crafting. I have always done some form of crafting, whether it was painting, creating miniature polymer clay food, redecorating my room with a different "theme" about every few months, scrapbooking, sewing my own line of clothing, or building furniture for my college apartment. As a child I had a mother and three grandmothers who were all very creative and they still are. I also have a dad who has always been into fixing and creating things from woodworking to trash picking items and restoring them. As far back as I can remember my sister and I always had an "arts and crafts" room where my mom would stock it full of all sorts of crafting supplies along with nonconventional art supplies and she loved to just see what my sister and I created with the supplies. She was always flexing our creative muscles and this is something that I am eternally grateful for. It has helped me in so many aspects of my life from school projects to DIY projects to problem solving for myself. I figured that this is something that I am very thankful for and now I am ready to share it with the world.
So what am I doing with my life right now? Why start my crafting blog now? Well, I actually just graduated college a few weeks ago. I was a student at Clemson University (the best school ever :)) where I earned my bachelor's degree in Food Science and Technology. A major that I completely fell in love with and am now turning into a career. Two weeks ago my boyfriend (of 3 years) and I moved to Hershey, PA together because I got a 15 month co-op position with the Hershey Company in the Continuous Improvement department. My boyfriend, Conner, who is also a Senior at Clemson University and will graduate in August, also got an internship at an amazing company where he will be pursuing his dream career. We are so thankful for the opportunities that we have been given and we are excited to start our new careers together. We also have an almost 10 month old Labrador Retriever/Golden Doodle puppy, Peach, who is super hyper and crazy but we both love her very much. Because of everything going on in the world right now my start date at the Hershey Company got postponed until July 1st. Therefore, I figured it would be a good time to start this blog and to start sharing with you guys the great DIY projects and crafts that I do pretty regularly. Right now I am in the process of decorating our new apartment so a lot of my first few crafts will revolve around home decor. I have some great projects planned that are pretty easy to do and I think you guys will enjoy them a lot. I am really excited to share them with you all!
Below are some more complicated DIY projects that I have done in the past and have really enjoyed. The coffee table was actually built by my dad. I gave him the inspiration and I was going to build it with him but the timing wasn't right so he ended up building it for me. I built the table next to the couch by myself and he also helped me build the headboard. The last picture is just an example of a painting that I have done. I can't wait to share more of my crafts and DIY projects with you guys along with tutorials so that you can do them yourself. I will post a new craft on my blog every Saturday, so look out for my first one this Saturday! Until then...keep crafting on my friends.
